For my final emergent technology project, I decided to explore mixbook, an online photo album allowing you to scrapbook and/or create story book albums that you can share online or purchase as gifts.
I found this website to be completely user friendly. There were several options available for downloading photos (i.e. facebook, photobucket, yahoo), as well as different page layouts, backgrounds and stickers that could be used to enhance your pages. I was able to create my albums, decided who could see them and share them once I was done. There was also an option to start with an album that was already completed and you could simply drop your pictures where you wanted them to go. It was also easy to preview your album, change themes and switch pictures all from the same tab.
Take a look and enjoy!!!

Podcasting
This was another new experience for me and just like the others, once I got everything downloaded it seemed quite simple. I used gabcast.com because I didn't have a microphone to use the audacity software. Gabcast allowed you to record over the telephone and provided you with 5 free minutes worth of talk time. I was able to listen both over the phone and on the website, delete, re-record a couple of times and I was provided with two links to post onto my blog. For those that don't have access to a microphone I would recommend googling other options, there were pages and pages for podcasting with the telephone, so I'm sure there are others out there.

Photo Share
I decided to explore with PhotoShow for my photo share blog. PhotoShow allows you to upload photos from several different places (facebook, shutterfly, flickr, etc) and create a photo slideshow. Since I already have the majority of my photos in a shutterfly account, it was definitely the best fit for me. PhotoShow is very user-friendly, everything is right there at the click of the mouse and you can actually see what changes you're making before finalizing them. I also liked the different options that were available to help me personalize my slideshow. The only tip I have for new users is to play around with the different options and styles to see what you like. I think I went through all of them until I found one that fit with the pictures I used.

RSS Feeds
Oh, so that's what that orange icon represents?!?! I know I've seen it several times on different websites and even in microsoft outlook, but I never really knew what it was used for.
It was kind of hard for me to get the feeds onto my blog as a matter of fact I'm still not even sure that I have them on there correctly. I choose the Department of Education website as my educational site because I'm always looking at differnt things with schools, espesically with I-STEP coming to and end, I'm interested in the results. My technology website was kind of hard to find, I kept looking until I found somethin I thought would be of interest and went with it. CNN and Indystar were both easy because I like to keep up with current events and I'm on the website frequently. One of my favorites is Global Grind. I've been following that one since I saw it on MTV - it usually has all of the latest celebrity gossip and happenings as well as current events.
I think I will use these feeds frequently and will keep them on my blog. I definitely didn't expect to have access to this much information right at the click of my mouse.
